Season 2019

We are thrilled to announce our season for 2019.
Hit comedies, a tender passionate musical and a re-working of a classic family favourite.
We are also excited to stage a play-reading of local playwright Gordon Parker's original work,
a staging of Jonathon Emmett and Scott Dias' original cabaret and to launch the Inaugural Lane Cove 10 minute play festival.

The Female of the Species

Thirty years ago, Margot Mason, pioneer of the 1970s Women's Liberation movement and fearless academic, wrote her ground-breaking work and numerous best-sellers followed. Now she has writer's block. Molly, an unannounced visitor and committed fan of Margot and her work, offers a potential solution - until Molly produces a gun and calmly informs Margot that she intends to kill her because she blames her for warping her mother's mind and ruining her life with her hit book The Cerebral Vagina.

Joanna Murray-Smith's deliciously wicked comedy deftly walks the tightrope between satire and farce proving the female of the species is not only deadlier, but funnier than the male.

This latest gem from the pen of one of Australia's most outstanding playwrights was inspired by Germaine Greer's experience of being held captive in her country house in Essex in 2000.

Pulsating, electric contemporary LGBT pop-rock musical BARE follows a group of students at a Catholic boarding school as they grapple with issues of sexuality, identity  and the future.

The show takes audiences on an emotional musical journey.  Peter and Jason have fallen in love, but they struggle with the fears of revealing their true selves to such an unforgiving world.

With a unique sung-through pop score, heart-pounding lyrics and a cast of bright young characters, BARE rings with the sounds of youthful repression and revolt.  BARE is a provocative, fresh and utterly honest look at the dangers of baring your soul … and the consequences of continuing to hide.
