THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES
BY EVE ENSLER
DIRECTED BY MEGAN SPINDLER
“Women have entrusted Eve with their most intimate experiences, from sex to birthing … I think men as well as women will emerge with a feeling more free with themselves—and about each other.”
- Gloria Steinem
Coochie Snorcher, Vag, Map of Tassie, Fanny. Call it what you like, Vagina’s mean many things to many women. Acclaimed writer Eve Ensler has put together a collection of diverse, candid, funny, heart wrenching and insightful stories of women, their experiences, lives and yes even their no-longer-so-private parts. This show encapsulates that there is not just one way to be a woman.
An Obie-Award winning whirlwind of a forbidden zone, The Vagina Monologues introduces a wonderfully divergent gathering of female voices including a six year old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a Vagina Workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, a man who “likes to look at it” and a woman who likes to make vagina’s happy!
Cast includes Lauren McNaught, Lilly Valentine Toll, Portia Prednay, Kelly McGowan Sasha Murray, Nicole Ann Smith, Kathryn Mae Thomas, JoAnna Ferrari, Belinda Humphries and Rose Edwards.
Produced Off-Broadway by David Stone, Willa Shalit, Nina Essman.
David Markley/Mike Skipper and The Araca Group.
Originally produced by HOME for Contemporary Theatre and Art at HERE
Randy Rollison, Artistic Director; Barbara Busackino, Producing Director in association with Wendy Evans Joseph.
