This weekend we present the world premiere of Vicki. We can't wait to share the show with you, so how about you meet the cast?

Laura Bucci - Michelle - the poet
Laura has had a passion for the performing arts since the age of 5 when she started playing the piano. She has completed 8 AMEB piano examinations and has performed in several piano concerts as well as competing in Eisteddfods. At a young age she also began dance lessons and joined the school choir which gave her the opportunity to perform at the Sydney Opera House in the Primary School’s Choral Festival in 2005.
In high school she studied music, dance and drama, with her HSC drama individual performance being nominated for OnSTAGE.  Laura continued to expand her skills in performance by completeing a Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in Music Theatre, at the Australian Institute of Music. Her previous show credits include Dr. McCarb’s Independent Surgical Hospital on the Hill (Sydney Fringe Festival), Into the Woods (AIM), Oliver! (BTC) and The Producers  (SMS).

Cerise Kofoed - Vicki - the robot
During her time at school, Cerise received weekly Speech and Drama lessons and completed a Certificate in Drama and Performance and a Certificate in Voice and Communication with AMEB examinations. At university, she graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Music (Music Theatre). During her time at college, she performed in Into The Woods directed by Tyran Parke. She played multiple roles including 'Granny', 'The Giant' and 'Snow White'. She also performed as 'Jackie' in The Boys and 'Henry V' in King Henry V, both plays directed by Terry Bader. Outside of university, Cerise performed in the Short & Sweet Festival 2016. For the festival, she played both female leads in the short plays, Chicken Curry and Loop. In 2017, Cerise performed as part of the ensemble for a theatre project called Split Spectrum with Perennial Theatre Company. She also played the 'Hansel & Gretel Witch', as part of a theme park performance in Halloscream 5:Revenge of the Forgotten Funfair at Luna Park. To kick off 2018, Cerise is very excited to play the cute  and curious robot for the musical Vicki with Lane Cove Theatre Company.

Lucy is a student at the Australian Institute of Music where she studies a Bachelor of Music (Music Theatre). During her high school years, Lucy attended out of school classes at Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) as well as studying both drama and music in her curriculum. She also has a Diploma of Arts (Acting) from where she obtained at Sydney Theatre School. She enjoys reading classic books and plays, and just last year participated in Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” and Shakespeare’s “As You Like It”. Lucy is excited about being a part of “Vicki” and exploring Val’s character with Shane and Rod. She enjoys working with the cast and crew and hopes to do so again in the near future.

Io doubt you’ve heard all the talk about the council elections coming up this Saturday 9 September. Last Thursday, In The Cove hosted a ‘Meet the Councillors’ evening. Trent Gardiner and Belinda Korner from the LCTC committee attended the session to see what each councillor had to offer in terms of supporting Lane Cove’s arts community and its need for a local multi-purpose space.

Of the eleven councillors at the session, only two openly supported a multi-purpose space in Lane Cove. Those councillors were Karola Brent (Independent - Central Ward) and Katherine Morris (Independent – Central Ward).

For many years local community groups have been advocating for this critical infrastructure for the Lane Cove community. The upcoming elections are the best opportunity to make your voice heard.

What is important to you?

We believe in social connections, and supporting the arts.  In a time when Lane Cove is seeing unprecedented growth, we believe that social connections are critical.

If infrastructure for the performing arts community is important to you, then check in with the candidates in your ward and understand their position on what is most important to you.

Make your vote count this Saturday 9th September!

PictureLane Cove Theatre Company President, Lochie Beh pictured here with Federal Member for North Sydney, Trent Zimmerman MP.

As a small, community theatre company we are astounded at the outreach of support for our company, artists and LGBTQI people in the last few days. We have always been committed to telling stories that make a contribution to our community’s discourse. Our latest production is no different.

We are still reeling from opening Holding the Man last night. True to our identity and purpose we told a beautiful, Australian love story. Our audience laughed loudly and cried earnestly. Looking at our audiences’ faces as they left we’re confident we did our job well.

I’ve always been proud of Lane Cove Theatre Company. Last night, I was especially proud that we could come together and share this story while debate about equality echoes around the country.

On behalf of Lane Cove Theatre Company, I would like to offer my utmost gratitude to everyone for the support that has been shown to us and our show. In particular I would like to thank In the Cove, News.com.au, our local Federal Member for North Sydney Trent Zimmerman MP for attending and showing his support all the people who shared and commented on articles about our advertising.

We are in this world together, so let’s work together. Love is love.

Lochie Beh

Every citizen of the Lane Cove and surrounding communities should be able to voice their opinion and have it respected, regardless of whether you agree with it or not.As a theatre company, it is our job to tell stories. Our stories inspire our audience to think on topics they may not have previously and incite empathy for the characters we bring to life. We take pride in giving our audiences insight into our characters’ lives.

This Friday we open Holding the Man; an exquisitely written love story. Our advertising featured the heart-warming photograph of our two lead characters portraying sheer, unconditional love

Last week the posters were torn down from the locations we have advertised our shows for more than 20 years.

Every citizen of the Lane Cove and surrounding communities should be able to voice their opinion and have it respected, regardless of whether you agree with it or not.

In a week when the marriage equality debate continues across the country, the voice of the LGBTQI community continues to grow. Members from all parts of our community join with us to speak. Our voice speaks of acceptance, inclusion and equality. They are values all of us at Lane Cove Theatre Company stand by and will continue to fight for.

Our posters may be torn down but our collective voice will continue. We will band together and speak.

Love is love.
